Carpe Diem -- Using Printables With Vellum
I’ve fallen in love (again) with vellum. This past month, I’ve been loving using the Studio Calico printables. Instead of printing them on white paper, I’ve been printing them on vellum for a fun twist. Today’s card features THREE different vellums, two of which were printed at home using the Studio Calico June printables.
I’ve combined the vellum with a watercolor background. I thought the watercolor background would compliment the Carpe Diem printable, which has that watercolor feel, nicely. I chose bright colors to make it fun and bring a little bit of summer to my card. The bright colors also contrast very nicely with the bold black print on my vellum piece.
Vellum can be tricky to attach to your card without your adhesive showing. For this card, I used gold thread to stitch the vellum printable to my watercolor panel. If you don’t want to stitch it to the front of your card, you can hide the adhesive behind the printed parts (the sentiment and heart would work really well on this piece). You can also hide your adhesive behind accent pieces; gems, sequins or other layers that you add on top.
To watercolor the panel, I used Twinkling H2O’s. These are really fun watercolors that have a fun shimmer to them when they dry. I’ve had them in my stash for years and thought it was high time to pull them out and use them again…especially since watercolor seems to be all the rage right now. I find water coloring very fun. I am by no means an expert, but had fun playing in the paint!
I’ve included a video walking you through the entire creation of this card. I’ve also linked to all the supplies used in this project below. Just click the picture to link directly to the product online.
And thanks for being patient with the audio on the video. I'm traveling right now and had to record this voice over in my hotel room!
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope this card has inspired you in some way. Have a fabulous day!
