Christmas Wishes - Double Die Cutting - Altenew & Pretty Pink Posh Collaboration Blog Hop
Hey everyone. Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you are having a fabulous week! It's almost the weekend, which is always reason to celebrate.
Today I'll be combining some products from Pretty Pink Posh and Altenew to create a fun Christmas card. This project is a part of a collaboration blog hop. There are lots of Holiday cards and projects along this hop featuring products from Pretty Pink Posh and Altenew. And of course, it wouldn't be a blog hop without some fantastic prizes too. I've included all the prize info and some special offer codes from both Pretty Pink Posh and Altenew below.
I started my card by cutting the Pretty Pink Posh Decorative Tag 1 Die from black card stock. My original plan was to kind of create a chalkboard tag feel by adding some white pigment ink to the completed tag. I decided I liked the tag better without the white pigment ink in the end, but I still think this has a chalkboard tag vibe, even without the added pigment ink.
I also used the Scallop Border Die Set from Pretty Pink Posh to cut some snow drifts from white glitter card stock. I recently discovered this white glitter paper in my stash and fell in love. It's perfect for snow. Once I cut a couple of wavy, scalloped pieces from the white glitter cardstock, I adhered them to my black tag, and ran it thorugh my die cut machine again, using the Decorative Tag die. This cuts the edges of the glitter paper to perfectly match the tag edge.
I used some colored embossing powders to emboss my stamped images. The powders I'm using are from Ranger. There are lots of fun colored embossing powders, some that even have some fun "effects". Embossing powders are a great way to add some color to your projects.
I embossed the trees from the Pine Tree stamp set from Altenew in green embossing powder on my black tag. Since the cardstock is dark, I made sure that I prepped my surface with an anti-static powder tool prior to stamping. This will keep embossing powders from sticking to areas where I don't want it. This step is especially important when embossing on dark card stock. Even the tiniest speck will spread when heat is applied and be visible on your dark card stock.
These colored embossing powders are a great option for getting super vibrant color on dark cardstocks, like this black I'm using today. Make sure the embossing powder you are using is an opaque embossing powder. Otherwise, the dark cardstock beneath will show through once it's heat set.
I used a really beautiful red embossing powder to emboss my sentiment from the Halftone Holidays stamp set from Altenew. I chose to emboss the sentiment on vellum. Vellum is another surface you'll want to be sure to prep prior to embossing. There tends to be a bit of static on vellum that wants to hold on to the embossing powder. Once I embossed the sentiment, I used my scissors to fussy cut around the edge. If you're not in to the fussy cut, there are coordinating dies available. I'm left with a really beautiful, shiny, red, raised sentiment that screams Christmas.
For my card base, I decided to use Hero Arts Kraft Cardstock. I stamped it using Versamark ink using the Wood Pallet background stamp from Altenew to add a little bit of texture. This kind of goes with that whole, home crafted, chalkboard tag vibe I was going for.
I have included a video tutorial below walking you through the creation of this card. Be sure to check it out. I've also linked the supplies to multiple sources used in this project below.
I finished off my tag with a gold thread bow at the top...for just a touch of gold. I also added some 3mm and 4mm Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh for just a bit of sparkle.
So there you have it! A fun Christmas project for you with some awesome products from Pretty Pink Posh and Altenew.
