Fancy Card

There are some things you have to have.  And then there are things that you HAVE TO HAVE!  When I saw the Hercules Scrapbook Add On from Studio Calico, I just knew I had to have it!  I adore that Fancy stamp.  And I knew I could make a "fancy" card with that fancy stamp.  So that was exactly my jumping off point for my card...a fancy stamp.

I wanted the card to feel "fancy" and yet fun as well.  I love the black and white patterned paper in the kit.  I wanted to create the same feel, but a little less bold and a little more "grungy".  I used the Peppermint stencil from Simon Says Stamp to create black inked stripes that fade out.  This created the perfect backdrop for the sentiment, which is truly the star of the show.

I started with a  sketch and an idea in mind...but as I went along, my plans changed.  I decided that I needed more color.  So I grabbed the floral paper from the kit and roughly cut out three of the flower images and tucked them behind the vellum sentiment piece.  While this wasn't my original plan, I love how this turned out.  To further tie in color, I used the aqua patterned paper from the kit to cover my entire A2 card front.  Sometimes, not sticking to the plan is a good idea.  In this case, I'm glad I went off course.

I have included a video tutorial below, walking you through the entire creation of this card.  I have also included links to the products used as well, just click the photo to link directly to the product.

I hope you've enjoyed this "fancy" card.  It's so schmancy!  I love the gold and glitter and those flowers!!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you have a fabulously fancy day!
