Geek Is Chic --- Using Stencils, Inking and Embossing Paste

Have you noticed?  Glasses are all the rage right now.  So, when I saw the Geek Is Chic stamp set and coordinating dies from My Favorite Things, I knew I had to have them.  These glasses are adorable.  Today I'm sharing two cards featuring this awesome stamp set and die set.  I'll also be sharing a fun technique that I saw Julie Ebersole do here.

To create a fun backdrop on my card base, I used some stencils, inking and Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste.  I started by positioning my stencil over my card front.  I used sponges to selectively ink a portion of my card.  For the "Clark Kent" card, I actually used three different inks to create an ombre look.  After I was satisfied with my inking, I cleaned my stencil and placed it right back over the inked area and then added Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste.  This is such a fun technique and adds so much shine and dimension to the card.

For the Eye Chart card, I added a little twist to the same technique by first stamping my sentiment before inking and adding embossing paste.  Quite honestly, I wasn't sure if this would work when I started adding the embossing paste.  But I think the end result is great!

These spectacle die cuts are so much fun.  I cut the cat eye glasses from some gold glitter paper.  Such a sassy look!  And I think they might be my dream glasses.  I cut the black glasses several times from black card stock.  I layered these die cuts to create a die cut with lots of dimension.  I finished these Clark Kent glasses off with a thick coat of glossy accents.  Seriously...are these not the cutest?  I adore these glasses.

I've included a video below walking you through the entire creation of this card.  I've also included links to all the products used in these projects.  Simply click the photo to link directly to the product.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and I hope you've been inspired to create something using your ink and stencils!  I hope you have a fabulous day!
