Kind People Are The Best - Stencil Smooshing With Distress Oxide Inks

Hey everyone!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I'm so glad you're here.

Today I wanted to share a project I created with stencil smooshing.  I don't tend to use stencils very often....maybe because I don't own many.  But they are a fun tool to play with and so very versatile.

I am using the Altenew Floral Drape stencil to create my cards today.  I got four for the price of one on this technique.

I am also using some Distress Oxide Inks.  These are a little different than traditional Distress Inks.  The Distress Oxide inks are a pigment/dye ink hybrid.  They have all the best properties of a pigment ink (bold color, slow drying, great for embossing) with the water reactiveness (is that a word) of the traditional dye based Distress Inks.  You can do many of the same techniques with both inks, but the Distress Oxide inks leave you with a completely different finish when dry.  They appear chalky and velvety once they've been exposed to water (or something similar).

Instead of water, I used some Sparkle Shimmer Spritz to activate my Distress Oxide inks. This leaves me with the same oxidized/chalky effect, but with a shimmer over the entire inked surface.  You know I love me some shimmer.

I'm going to walk you through the creation of these cards in the video tutorial below.  So be sure to check that out.

I'm also using some sentiments from Concord & 9th.  I combined a die cut sentiment with stamped sentiments.  I've linked those products in the supply list below.

I used a bit of craft foam to give my sentiment dimension.  I'll give you a helpful hint for applying that to your intricate die cuts in the tutorial below.

I finished the cards off with some die cut hearts and sequins.  I die cut the hearts from some some card stock I created by taking my Distress Oxide ink pad direct to paper.  This gives me the perfect match.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you've enjoyed these projects.
