You Totally Rock - Scrapbook Expo Blog Featured Project
Hi everyone! Today I'm stopping by to share a project that I created for the Scrapbook Expo Blog. I was asked to create a project in my "signature style" to share over there. I decided that I would have to do a project featuring some of my favorite things, including watercolor, patterned acetate, die cutting, vellum and of course, gold glitter card stock. I didn't know I could jam pack so many of my favorite things in to one card!
I started by creating a watercolor circle. I wanted to have a guide for my watercolor, but I was hesitant to use a pencil line, because I didn't know how well it would erase if I accidentally went over the pencil line. I decided to deboss the circle in to my watercolor card stock using my circle dies instead. This gave me a great guide for my watercolor circle and also adds a fun detail to the card as well.
After my watercolor background was dry, I layered a piece of my favorite patterned acetate over the top. This We R Memory Keepers polka dot acetate is such a fun accent to any card. I added it on to the card front using some foam adhesive. I hid the foam behind the polka dots, and centralized it in the area where I knew the sentiment would be. This created the perfect disguise for the foam adhesive. I love how the polka dots appear to float over the watercolor background.
The You Rock die set from the Essentials By Ellen line is right up my alley, so I decided to use these fun dies, along with a Demo label accent, to create my greeting. And of course, a ROCK like that deserves some gold glitter card stock. I layered the die cut with some vellum to create a fun shadow effect. By offsetting them just slightly, I was able to create the perfect layered effect for the die cut sentiment. I also added a layer of Glossy Accents over the gold glitter die cut to add even more shine and dimension.
The card wouldn't be complete without a little bit of black and white patterned paper and some sequins. I layered up the card front with some patterned paper, Juicy Pear card stock and some more gold glitter. Then I added my favorite sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
